Robert James Despins, born in Racine, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on February 1, 2023.
Robert “Bob” was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Judy of 57 years, daughter Susan Despins, daughter Laura Despins, daughter Kim Rinehart (Eric), grandchildren Kaylee Rinehart and Nick Rinehart, brother Ron Despins, sister-in-law Nancy Paulson (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his father Edwin Despins, mother Marion Despins, sister-in-law Mary Despins, niece Julie Scheck (Despins), many aunts and uncles and several good friends.
Bob loved life and was given a second chance 18 years ago when he received a heart transplant from a loving family. We are forever thankful for the Williams family and their special gift from their son Powell. All of us are so grateful for all the excellent care of the Mayo doctors and staff. Our family feels so blessed that we had so many years with him.
Bob and Judy opened their own plumbing business- Despins Plumbing and Associates in Racine, Wisconsin in 1973. They moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1983 where Bob and Judy opened up their second business- Despins Printing and Graphics in 1985.
Bob loved being a plumber and until the end tried to fix every plumbing issue. He loved Arizona and the wonderful weather. His favorite vacation was going to Disney World. He passed on his passion for Disney to his children and grandchildren.
Of course, we cannot forget all of his wonderful friends that he adored and enjoyed spending time with. He was kind, generous, caring, always smiled and will be missed by many. Bob loved you all.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 9th at St. Patrick Catholic Community Church located at 10815 N. 84th St. Scottsdale, AZ, Officiated by Fr. Eric Tellez. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with the funeral service at noon.
Committal Service to follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum located at 9300 E. Shea Blvd. Scottsdale, AZ.
Reception will begin at 2:30pm at the Rinehart residence located at 6611 W. Dale Lane, Phoenix, AZ.
