James Eric Gerdes of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on April 25, 2023. James, known to all as Jim, was born to Ivan and Mary Laurel Gerdes, on February 19, 1952 in Mason City, IA.
As a devoted lifelong Catholic, Jim poured himself into his faith, family, friendships and service for others.
Raised on his family’s farm, his interest in mechanics at a young age led to a successful career as a mechanical engineer and business owner. Jim worked 41 years in industrial/commercial refrigeration construction and service, while also contributing much of his time to outreach in the community, especially near his South Phoenix business. Jim was also an active member of the horsing community with The Verde Vaqueros and The Western Saddle Club. Horsing was a pastime he enjoyed sharing with friends and family, whom he cherished.
